MIDLAKE – The Calling

Midlake drops “The Calling”, the latest single from their sixth album “A Bridge To Far”, out November 7 via Bella Union. Recorded at The Echo Lab in their Denton, Texas hometown with producer Sam Evian (Big Thief, Cass McCombs), the album marks their first new collection in over three years.

“The Calling” builds around a driving rhythm that opens up when the horn section kicks in. Eric Pulido and Jesse Chandler worked with Evian on the horn arrangements, creating what Pulido describes as a moment where “we went to Chicago World for a minute.” The lyrics deal with the tension between denying and embracing what you’re meant to do. Pulido calls it his “own struggle with applying myself towards a given effort.”
